Education and Regulation
Naturopathic Doctors are highly educated, primary care practitioners. They are required to complete an extensive full-time post-graduate program that encompasses medical sciences, Naturopathic principles and therapeutics, and supervised clinical experience. Graduates must pass two sets of provincial licensing board exams, maintain ongoing continuing education, and remain in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. In Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors are regulated under the Regulated Health Professions Act—the legislation that regulates many other health care professions, including physicians and nurses.
